Stanley, North Carolina, is located in Gaston County. It is one of Gaston County’s oldest towns, settled in the early 1700’s. It was named after a prospector who panned for gold in a creek near the settlement. Stanley the Prospector left the area, but a community started to grow along the creek, which became known as Stanley’s Creek Community.
The community lasted over one hundred yeaars before becoming a town and is now one of the oldest settlements in Gaston County, full of historical significance. Today, Stanley has a population of 3,618 people and is known for its picturesque, small town USA charm. Featuring beautiful parks and a growing community, Stanley truly is a “friendly place.”
